Lagniappe Four, September 2004
In New Orleans, the word "Lagniappe" (pronounced LAN-IAPE) mean "a little something extra." I will be adding a little bit of Lagniappe to the website every few months. The photographs will likely be from a small project I am currently working on, or perhaps something from the past that I wanted to share for the first time.
The fourth, and long-overdue installment of Lagniappe, "Party in the City," documents a recent trip to New York City. I was invited to participate in an "event" organized to highlight Southern Art during the Republican convention. My official duties were minimal, so I took to the streets of my hometown to capture a different side of the madness. As with Lagniappe One, I consciously returned to my roots as a black and white documentary photographer. Enjoy, and, as always, remember to think peace....
