In January 1992, Super Bowl XXVI came to Minneapolis, Minnesota. A group of ten photographers, under the direction of Dona Schwartz, assistant professor of journalism at the University of Minneosta, ca me together to examine this great American pasttime from a cultural and social perspective through a black and white documentary photography project. The resulting work, entitled Co ntesting the Super Bowl, was published by Routledge in the fall of 1997. The following photographs represent a selection from my contribution to the work.
